Be sure you seal the slate BEFORE you grout it---otherwise it is nearly impossible to wipe/clean the grout out of the surface of the individual slate squares. Over 30% of this tile should never have been boxed and sold as 'Premium' quality tile.I anticipated something of this nature, at $1.99 per square foot, so I bought plenty.I would recommend this product, with that caveat. We had to order and when delivered 3 of the 10 tiles were broken :( These tiles are absolutely gorgeous! I use them on the tops of feral cat shelters I put together from mostly discarded pieces of Styrofoam. I fasten them with silicone. They serve to both weigh down and decorate the shelters. I get many compliments on the pieces. Because they look pretty, people are more likely to put them on their property, so that more feral cats can keep warm in the winter. I chose this tile because I wanted a look in my guest bathroom that would leave a lasting impression. Natural stone is awesome. I just never thought I would love this tile as much as I do. The color variations in the tiles are beautiful. Very rich looking. This tile is fantastic! I replaced a pine plank floor in the entranceway of my home with this. This floor looks absolutely beautiful. Everyone comments on it. And if it rains or snows, I don't have the worries I had with the pine floor it replaced. The product looks great, alot of variation in thickness but that adds to the rustic look, just be sure to plan the install so you dont end up with thick pieces next to thin pieces. Very nice variation on colors. Some damaged product so be sure to buy extra.
